Each night, under the dark skies, a young man swims to an island in the middle of lake Van. Princess Tamar is waiting there with a bright fire to guide him through the fog and waves. The lovers meet secretly. But one night a terrible storm blows the fire out and the man sinks into the deep waters, crying out his last words "Akh-Tamar". Ever since the island bears the name of Akhtamar.

Akhtamar is notable for its delicate taste and rich bouquet. It has a lot of vanilla on the nose and hints of dried fruit, currents and raisins. Traditionally consumed to celebrate love and passion.
